Aimee and James had the absolute perfect bohemian, English country wedding. With all locations a 5 minute walk from each other, their wedding day in the quiet village of Ashwick, outside Bristol, was just filled with rustic charm.
Aimee began the day getting ready in the church lodges with her 6 absolutely gorgeous bridesmaids and two gorgeous daughters. My favourite moment was Aimee getting her eldest daughter ready, which was a lovely moment of calm amongst a busy morning! I also ran across to see the boys across the road who were excited to get some photos with a friends old truck which was super cool and really tied in with the theme of the day!
The church was just across the road, and it was a very meaningful venue for James’ family who live nearby and had very strong connection to the church. It was a really emotional ceremony which I think was a surprise to both of them, with plenty of tears and laughter. I think everyone (not in the least James) was blown away when they saw Aimee walking down the aisle!
After the ceremony, all the guests were lead literally to the field across the lane where a marquee and drinks were waiting for them. So much thought had gone in to the reception, and they managed to transform an empty patch of land in to an amazing venue with a real bohemian, festival vibe. Instead of a traditional wedding breakfast, they opted for afternoon tea and the tables were laden with mismatched china, sandwiches and of course, scones and sweet treats! All the small details were perfect, from the old wooden pallet they used as a wedding day plan to the simple, rustic cake which just said “Finally” on top in reference to the time it took these two to actually get around to getting married!
I couldn’t wait to get Aimee and James out for their wedding photos. As you can see, they made my job incredibly easy by looking so gorgeous and totally in love! We waited until a little bit later in the day for some softer light, and made the most of the gardens of the church lodge, the old truck and the field behind the marquee to capture their wedding portraits. I had so much fun photographing them, and they were totally up for trying a few different poses. I couldn’t keep them away from the evening party for long though, so I left them to enjoy the afternoon!
I really can’t describe just how fun and relaxed the whole day was. They absolutely nailed their wedding day and it was such a wonderful occasion. It was fantastic to be their wedding photographer!
